  • Give way to the right!

    That's the simple answer.

    However, if there's a sign and a line - the sign will be 'Cedez le Passage' or a similar phrase you will have the right of way ON the roundabout, but you must give way coming onto the roundabout.

    If there is no sign and a line, then on coming traffic has the right of way, and even if you're half way round the roundabout you must give way to traffic entering from side roads.

    This second type of roundabout is, fortunately, dying out in France - but they still exist - so be on your guard.
