There was a big difference. I rang a few people on my list up and quite frankly they weren't too fussed about taking in motorcyclists or not. Others were keen bikers and really wanted to attract as many motorcyclists as possible.
It was getting confusing and I wasn't further forward in my quest to enable touring motorcyclists to book their first night at a motorcycle friendly establishment then continue on their tour booking a night ahead each time - in other words flexibility and biker friendliness. This is what I've always wanted to do on tour.
Mostly what happens is I set off towards somewhere and then start looking far too late for a Hotel then wind up somewhere incredibly expensive because I happen to loathe Formula 1 with an absolute passion.
At this point a strategy has begun to form in my mind about how to go about this -
- the basis of MotorbikeFriendly should be a free link exchange.
- upgrades should be available to anyone who wants to actively promote their business.
- both advertisers and potential clients should be able to cooperate to build self guided tours at the minimum cost.
- the Motorbike Friendly site(s) should at the very least pay for themselves. I don't expect to be able to retire - but I want a self financing hobby! So for the time being the google adsense ads have to stay.
To that end - using free building blocks - we have a free link exchange (MotorbikeFriendly) automated, A blog where any B&B owner can post routes. Featured B&B's and that is just the start.....
I intend to add as much functionality as I can as we progress - but links to good B&B's will be the start.
